This is how I currently feel about that expression. Hope that helps.

i really had a hard time accepting certain scriptures as being an "extension" to modern-day jw's.
examples:.
ip-2 cp6 pg87 paragraph 87: "for gods exiled people in babylon, those words are an assurance that the promised land will not remain desolate.
This is how I currently feel about that expression. Hope that helps.

this is just hypothetical.
let's say that the wt never dissolves.
it continues in existence until the year 2914. what do you think they'd be saying about 1914 and armageddon being just around the corner then?.
GB 10.0 in the house!! He-ey! And still overlapping the generations like a mo-fo!

anyone read this yet?
more of the same cheerleading and self-worship of the jw organization.. on page 14, they even pull a few quotes from the bible, but not their own!
that of course is because when freddy was writing his version of the bible, he forgot to put "organization" into the text, so now they pull a few quotes from these sources to justify worship of "organization!.
Marked, because of Blondie's awesome research. Thanks!

i will start it off with-thetrueone.
"postulating religionists are really illusionists by using suggestive words to accomplish a state of believability.

On his own thread at http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/208674/1/Dude-Memorial-on-Sunday-and-the-Battle-for-sd-7-Continues , sd-7 said:
"She expressed a hope that, when I 'get reinstated', there will be many people who will want to befriend and talk to me. Well, while I enjoy Instant Cocoa Mix, I do not enjoy Instant Friends. I can taste the difference."
I loved the highlighted part. Classic....and oh so true. Thanks sd-7.

RayPublisher, Thanks for the update! I wish you the best. I currently "devote" about 4 hrs to the ministry per month, and as you already know, no longer a ministerial servant.

people become jws for a variety of reasons.
i just read an interesting passage in a novel that i think applies to many of us to some way.
the main character in the book is a retired military policeman.
I'm not a born-in, but close enough. I was about 6 or 7 when my parents took their studying seriously and were moved to baptism. I trusted my parents because they trusted other people that TOLD them this was the truth. Hey, I was a kid.
I know now that it is not the truth.

Thanks Blondie!!
Just to support the info in par. 16, I need to add this wonderful experience a brother told me about himself this weekend.
He was working full time and also serving as a regular pioneer. So he had a pretty full schedule. His long service days were on Saturday and Sunday, two days that he relied on dearly. Now he has two daughters from two different women and is currently married to another woman.
All of a sudden, the mothers that were giving him problems about seeing the girls regularly, began to allow him to have the girls on the weekend. (You guessed it, now affecting his service time.) So as a good father should do, he gave thought to keep working and quit pioneering so as to both care for his girls and see them. His wife proceeds to tell him not to stop pioneering, but rather to keep it in prayer.
A few weeks later, still pioneering, he looses his job; a layoff. How does he explain it? IT WAS AN ANSWER TO HIS PRAYERS!!
Alright everyone, calm down. Yes, yes, it's true. He hasn't worked for almost two years and is able to collect weekly. This is what Jehovah wants, him to live off the system, yes to abuse it, so that he can continue to give of himself and serve whole-souled. But now, since he doesn't have to go to a job daily, he can get his time during the week and see his girls on the weekend!
WTH !!
Hey, you don't have to believe me. I'm just recounting the twisted things that come out of people in this org and make you go .......... hmmmmmm.

the following highlighted info is taken from pg.
62 of steve hassan's combatting cult mind control:.
if information transmitted to a cult member is perceived as an attack on either the leader, the doctrine, or the group, a hostile wall goes up.
@ Ding - I haven't finished reading Combatting Cult Mind Control by Steve Hassan. But that could certainly be a start into understanding the mind and how to talk to people under this control.

though i no longer believe the fds is indeed appointed by god, i guess because of what has been taught to me all these years through the wtbts, i still make an effort to try and look at both sides.
and then i come across this number below, which is how i arrived at my title for this thread.
***w81 2/15 p.19 do we need help to understand the bible?***.
@ sizemik - Good point! JW's at times assume things about Jehovah or Jesus yet accept it as truth. How do we know? Wording, like apparently, evidently, etc.
But God forbid you do something that was not recorded in the Bible and voila! You're a sinner because then, and only then, evidently, it never happened.
